Ahead of a tough game against the Reds…
Erik ten Hag insists Manchester United players are not standing still when they were beaten 7-0 by Liverpool at Anfield last season.
Just a few hours ago, “Manu” will face the Premier League leader Liverpool in the seventeenth round of the 2023-2024 Premier League.
The seven-goal defeat at Anfield last March was United’s heaviest defeat to Liverpool in their history.
Ten Hag appeared optimistic about the match and seemed determined to convey the situation to United’s players ahead of the decisive battle, stressing that he did not make his players watch the match video.
He told the match press conference: “I didn’t see us being scared in the game last season. It was definitely a bad experience but we were good in the first half and fell apart in the second half.”
He added: “Last season was different for other players. We don’t ignore the defeats but we had confidence in the team we have now from start to finish. We have to fight there. We have to challenge and prepare to win. Last season is in the past .What we can change is the future.”
He added: “There’s no doubt that Liverpool are playing well but we’ve been through a lot of difficult games recently.”
